Freddy Espinoza, executive steward at Planet Hollywood Hotel Resort
& Casino in Las Vegas, has a lot of meals to oversee. For serving
food in the hotel's banquet halls, as well as its catering and room
service, he opts for Europaeus Oca Bianca melamine dishes in white
for their look, sturdiness, and reasonable cost. "I used to buy
a lot of ceramic but then I switched to melamine because of the
chipping and breakage - it's more cost effective," he says. Espinoza
finds the bowls and platters he uses to be versatile: "they hold
up well with hot and cold temperatures," and he likes their look,
describing it as "good for what we do here - it's very close to
ceramic."
For banquets, he often pairs the platters with Europaeus' double-
or triple-tiered display stands, which also fit other Europaeus
lines, including terracotta, ceramic and porcelain.
Because of the volume he serves, Espinoza often finds frequently
that he has to replenish his supply of serving dishes, which sometimes
means placing an order with Europaeus two or three times a month.
"The service is good. The sales rep normally calls to check in on
how the orders are going, and it doesn't take long to get it," he
reports. "Overall, they're cost-effective and easy to work with."
